liner notes
I rode from Ohio to Kansas on the back of a magic turtle to write a thesis on Star Wars and kinda teach some kids. Red states can be scary, though, so off I go to Mass. to do something or other.

You made bunny cry. Aren't you ashamed?
Most of the sadness captured here is relationship-inspired. Each track features an especially tear duct-draining quote. I tried to mix well-known sad bastards with a few surprises, and to play with tempo and tone a bit. Enjoy, you sad, hopeless cases.

When my special ladyfriend was leaving for NY, I made her this mix to captured the city in a way that we could share, despite the distance. It is silly and lonesome and covers numerous styles, which sounds like the city to me.

I attempted to make a mix based not on the music, but by song titles that I found interesting or amusing. Later, I edited the list and tried to pick the songs that made for the best listening experience. It has some tempo ruts, but otherwise it is a fun listen.

I designed this mix several years ago for my girlfriend. It consists of love songs with the first letter of each song, save the first and last, spelling her name: Sarah E. Hewitt. The style is both silly and seductive, which, if you knew us, you would think was wholly appropriate. (I used R.E.M. twice, which I know is against "the rules," but it was necessary, and I think it works, especially given how different the two songs are in both style and content: the first is "awwww," while the other is “rarrrrrrr.")
