Despite the fact that TEAM ROBOT was crushed like a Pabst can at a frat party by the might claws of TEAM MONSTER, you are still deserving of a badge... Loser.

Depends what you want out of your trip I guess, but a list of 'do' things for me would include checking out The 12 Bar club off Charing Cross road in the West End. It is a tiny intimate venue where famous people turn up unannounced to play. Also, the Kashmir club (I think it is still going) near Baker St. It is a few times a week industry hangout that features new acts plus unannounced people. I saw Richard Thompson, Steve Earle and others there at different times. Also, it is free! The Borderline (Manette St off Charing Cross Road) often has good acts on. The area around Charing Cross Road from Oxford Street to St Giles Circus is unofficially known as Tinpan Alley. All the best instrument stores are there. (Macari's usually has great vintage gear) Rod Argent's keyboard shop is there as well as publishing houses, agents, etc. From a tourist point of view Abbey Road is cool. Also, a visit on a Sunday to Camden Lock is good. Watch Hippies buy clothes, buy bootlegs, hangout at record fairs, eat food from all round the world. That's fun. A train ride to Brighton is worth it.
Don't...get stranded in South London (Brixton mostly) at night without a ride. It can get dangerous. There is the usual touristy warnings like don't change money at the West End money exchanges because they give crap rates. Do it before you travel, or at the airport.
Are you gigging or is this a vacation? Let me know if I can come up with any other info.

Jethro Tull's 'Another Christmas Song' and Sufjan Stevens 'Get Behind Thee Santa' are good. You just have to accept that Christmas songs have nothing to do with music and Christmas has nothing to do with real life and then just go with it for 48 hours or so.
