Last time, we let the robots duke it out against the monsters in a colossal death clash of the mixtaping titans. Now, it is time for yet another wonderful team battle with an added challenge: THE SEVEN YEAR MIX.
Let's break it down. We have two teams: '97 and '07. Team '97 can only use songs from the 1990-1997 timespan. Likewise, Team '07 can only use from the 2000-2007 timespan. Both sides have their advantages and their weaknesses. TEAM '97 can cherrypick from some indisputable classics, but TEAM '07 has some really fresh shit available.

Corey and Eric couldn't be more happy at the way things are turning out here on the Collective, but things are getting off to a slow start -- we need new members. Lots of them.
This contest will require you to recruit people, wether they be your friends, chums, comrades, confidants, cronies, pals, associates, cohorts, colleagues, companions or peers.
To participate in the contest, simply have the new recruit type your username in the 'Referred By' field. It's as easy as that.
That said, There are some stipulations:

Okay, maybe it's not *that* glorious, but we do have a pretty neat contest. Here's the idea: Craft a mix that you would give as a gift.
Better to give, you know. So, in the spirit of gifts and friendships and music and family, compile a mixtape. Or a gifttape, as I have decreed them. Just be sure to let us in on your thought process.
For example: Personally, I would craft a mixtape for my father based to listen to while we play a game of booze chess. I'd make it rockin' because he's in for a drunken beating. I'm not looking for a checkmate, I want him to suffer. I want complete capitulation to a soundtrack of Zappa.

Last time, we let the robots duke it out against the monsters in a colossal death clash of the mixtaping titans. Now, it is time for yet another wonderful team battle with an added challenge: THE SEVEN YEAR MIX.
Let's break it down. We have two teams: '97 and '07. Team '97 can only use songs from the 1990-1997 timespan. Likewise, Team '07 can only use from the 2000-2007 timespan. Both sides have their advantages and their weaknesses. TEAM '97 can cherrypick from some indisputable classics, but TEAM '07 has some really fresh shit available.

Following directly on the heels of the last contest, Mixtape Contest III will require some cleverness on your part, should you join in on the competition.
The concept: Back to school music.
We've all had to return to some form of school after a glorious summer. We've all had to trade our lazy-monday mornings for biology lectures, our Price is Right marathons for dull textbooks, our youth for our education. The end result is up to you, but in some form, it should deal with the aforementioned theme.
To participate in the contest, simply create your mixtape putting 'Mix Contest 3' in all three keyword fields and activate it.
Adhere to the rules, as the winner will be determined by the votes of the Collective. At the end of the two-weeks, the person holding the number one spot will take home 200 points and the badge, with smaller bonuses and badges for silver and bronze.

The second mixtape contest, should you choose to participate will involve copious amounts of thought, time and tears.
This one is easy: for every love song written, there are approximately 13,401.33 sad songs created. Your job will be to assemble these depressing, downtrodden, sad-bastard tracks into one glorious mixtape.

The first mixtaping contest is upon us, but don't think it'll be a walk in the park, you'll have to earn the 200 points and unique badge that comes with being the winner.
The rules are simple: Starting with the first song, the last word in the current song must match the first word in the next song.
Example: You Can't Quit Me, Baby -> Baby Doll -> Doll is Mine -> Mine's not a High Horse

COMPLETED!: CONTEST 0 : Crowd Control
Corey and Eric couldn't be more happy at the way things are turning out here on the Collective, but things are getting off to a slow start -- we need new members. Lots of them.
This contest will require you to recruit people, wether they be your friends, chums, comrades, confidants, cronies, pals, associates, cohorts, colleagues, companions or peers.
To participate in the contest, simply have the new recruit type your username in the 'Referred By' field. It's as easy as that.
That said, There are some stipulations:
1 - User MUST specify you as a referrer when signing up.
2 - Users refered prior to the start of this contest will not count.
3 - User MUST be active to count towards the contest. We will not give specific criteria, but it is safe to say that users that sign up and fail to be active will not count when the results are tallied.
Try to recruit people that will enjoy the site. We have enough dead users as it is, do you really want more to stumble up when you click 'random profile'?
Finally, if we have reason to believe you have made a 2nd account for yourself as a means to get ahead, bad things will happen. Be honest in your competition. Cheaters suck.
