yeah, i'm going to second that...probably power metal...although all those genre names are specific to the person describing them...
if you haven't already, you should check out 'Theory In Practice: Colonizing the Sun"...it's like taking all the technicality of those progressive metal/power metal bands, replacing all singing with death growls, and removing anything flamboyant and sissy...and then make it like 5x as aggressive, more technical, more rhythm/time signature changes...
okay...nevermind, not the same at all...but its pretty badass and you might still like em!
