I like it. I especially like Vermicide. De-loused is still my favorite, though.

oh shortbus i bet it was a big venue.
i saw them on the deloused tour w/ saul williams.

It was the best show i have ever been to.

the venue held about 500.

a band like that can only play at a small venue

Please tell me Saul did some of his slam stuff aswell as his actual musical things, if he did, he probably shat on the Mars Volta. Saul Williams live is the most intense thing I have ever experianced.

:D

I havn't got his newest book, but said the shotgun to the head's formatting in text didnt impress me much, it killed it if you ask me, but yeah, him doing spoken word is just... damn. Gypsy Girl is a billion times more haunting when heard recited than on paper, but it's still pretty unsettling then.

I want to calm her,
I want to call him names
but only mine seems to fit.

"Come on let's see if it fits"
Two little boys with a magic marker
marked her and it wont come out
"they put it in me"
"no we didn't"
"what are you talking about,
it's not permanent
it'll come out when you wash it"
damn, maybe it was permanent

Chilling.

he only did a few from shotgun...

i just think thats a great title.

it was wierd. It was in lawrence ks and that town is very very art minded you could say. Alot of hipsters to say teh least..

well anyway he basically made fun of a guy becuase when he was walking around and getting a bit to eat, he overheard a guy talking about how much he loved saul, and that he had see him like a gizzlion times before......

needless to say the guy didnt recognize saul.

that band has become weired for weired sake, don't get me wrong they are talented but it just doesn't sound good. De-loused has its moments, but its just not a regular listen.

will someone just come out and say it. amputechture is terrible. i adore deloused and frances the mute. amputechture just sounds like them rehashing old ideas, but in an uninterestingly half-assed way. add to it the thoughtless percussion, and you have one of the biggest disappointments of 2006. is anyone with me on this?

ive not had a job so i cannot verify my dis/like for the new volta outside of the early shit i downloaded. it was good, i think much like frances it will have to have its time to grow on me.

frances did so in a huge way.

and seeing the volta twice gave me a good view of how they are. first was with APC @ a collisuiuem and they rocked, but were reserved.s econd time they headlined and i saw them @ a small club in austin. three solid hours of sheer terror. these guys were formidible. i guess its all in their mindset. they can be good or fucking great.

rehasing old ideas, not one of the albums sound alike, it sounds nothing like defacto or ATDI. I beg to differ saying that its just a half assed attempt at rehasing old ideas.

i gave it another full listen today. though i appreciated it more, i'm still not enamored by it. to me, it just sounds like frances part two. and even though i love frances the mute, it sounds like a lesser version of it. maybe my expectations are too high.
