i recently have been relistening to Suspended Animation by Fantomas, and im in love with the quirky short hard-riffed segments they accomplish in this album.. i also really liked Amenaza al Mundo for the spastic drumming and i think it's called thrash guitar..
i know these guys get some influence from some japanese bands, and possibly some other areas i dont know of..
what im asking for is the names of some bands that fit this formula who have a spark of creativity behind it (anyone can "wail" ona guitar).. what makes my mind like fantomas is the thought & precision put into each little track...
are there any other people / groups / etc who do something similiar or even in another tangent that is still as entertaining & interesting?

and uh, for anyone who'll tell me to check out last.fm's recommendations... they suck, everything ive tried from them wasnt quite what i was looking for or was so completely opposite from the original band i laughed a few times...

My guess is that Fantomas' main influence is RUINS. Especially since Patton put an album of theirs out on his own label. And they are japanese.
