What do you guys think about their music reviews? I know that they come off as complete snobs but its hard not to appreciate how many they have done.

P.S. I completely agree with their mars volta review. trash.

I would think more of their reviews if their idea of research wasnt just regurgitating something one of their friends said at a hipster cocktail party.

Well it looks like you don't make up your own mind all the time. Reviews are just a guideline for getting us to take interest in a new band that may or may not be good or at least to our liking. I do not by any means love everything recomended to me but I can eliminate quite a bit of stuff I don't want to listen to by the reviews. I would much rather talk to you or sledge or SKT805 and have you recomend something for me. Rather then some snob in new york that is either giving lip service to the labels and mtv or is just being obsecure for obsecure sake. If were all hate on each other for asking for some new music or reviews on things then we all lower ourselves to their level. I know we can't all get along and like the same things but we don't have to me complete a-holes, unless its me and sledge, then its fun.
I'm climbing down off my soapbox now and am going to get back to work.

it means i steal musics off the internet, then decide if i would like to go ahead and purchase the cd or if it's not even worth the $$$. because, unfortunatly, i dont have a shitton of money to waste upon such luxuries as "trying" out cds i purchased. i'd rather know, then go off someone who's paid to pump up certain music/etc, if the cd is going to be good or not.

ie. why i dont read reviews/critics. it's either this, or theyre paid to say good things by lables/etc.

So are you saying you dont look at any music review whatsoever. that all the "goldmines" that you find (i.e. tool) are completely upon yourself?

Did you read anything I even wrote. I was saying that WE should help each other out instead of using reviews. But your to spun up as it to listen to it. I tried to recommend a band to you once because of your listed bands and you started to argue with me about the statement I made. I'm over it I'm not trying to disagree with you but rather suggest( which seems to be what you want people to do) but you disagree and argue with the things people suggest. You just made my foe list.

well thats exactly what I was asking. I understand how music snobbery can get in the way of the fact that you would want to be completely "pure" when a friend asks "who's this" in your car, but I would be surprised if you held onto many friends when you have to bash every kind of musical entertainment that they enjoy unless they were snobs themselves. Then I would realize how shallow peoples lives can be.
SIDENOTE: this isnt generated mainly to cst003 but music snobs on here in general. I would think this place is created for the love of music. Not the love of bashing other peoples interests.

where am i hating on someone for their musical tastes or even for asking? didnt i start a thread asking for recommendations from people who might know a certain genre of music i was looking into?
