Scary word, I know.
I love the ability to look at individual tracks, and even rate them! I don't love that we can't actually listen to the track before we rate it.
I don't know the legal loopholes that you'd have to go through, but wouldn't it be awesome if tracks could be uploaded to the site so we could listen to them? Not download them, just listen to them on the site. Like Pandora.
I know, we don't have the bandwidth to support that, and it would be difficult. But hey, I dream big.

Sorry to take awhile to respond to this. I wish we could do this sort of thing, and someday I hope we can, but it's going to be a ways off.

Unfortunately, we looked into this when we first started the site. In order to legally stream music (not download, just stream), you have to pay a licensing fees either on an individual label level, or in bulk. The bulk fee was somewhere around $10,000 a year if I recall correctly.

Additionally, we would have to probably get our own server/bandwidth rather than renting from a hosting company. The music would take up an immense amount of space and the amount of bandwidth used would be astronomically greater than what we use now. Also keep in mind that internet service begins charging for bandwidth after you cross a certain threshold.

We would need a larger userbase (probably at least 10k+) and an effective ad system (google adwords) or something in place before we could justify making that sort of investment.

We'd also probably have to quit our current jobs to focus on this full-time =P.

Hahah.
You make it sound way too hard, Corey.
Just get some more users, then start introducing ads or an ad-free subscription, then sell out, give the site to some corporation, and go home with the money.
I kinda figured it would be a ways off, but I wasn't sure if it had been suggested at all yet, so I figured I'd throw it out there. I guess I know now.
Thanks.
