Am I the only one that doesn't find this schtick very amusing? I laughed at a few parts but it was mostly at some of the people when Borat wasn't even around (ie. the people at the church dancing and running). I guess I don't get it. But I say he deserves all of the money he's made from this flick just for putting himself through the naked fight with his producer.

I thought it was entertaining, but the whole "Borat-mania" really watered down the comedy. For some reason, most people still believe they can do a spot on impression of Sasha Baron Cohen (rarely the case). The first time I watched the movie I kept thinking "I've heard this before. Someone told me about that before. I've seen this on YouTube." The publicity was too much.

i went with a goup of friends and was treated like a pretentious asshole because i said i didn't think it was all that funny... and i have about the crassest sense of humor around. simply offending people isn't humorous in itself. there has to be some element of wit or creativity.

Did they show his TV show in the US? The Ali G one...

I didn't like Borat either, although there were some funny as fuck moments (and no, i'm not referring to the naked wrestle. that was just plain disgusting)

The only reason I like his tv show is because he interviews experts on issues like narcotics, feminism etc, that have no idea it's a comedy show and that he's just fucking with them.
Yes, many poeple have done this before him, but I think it's hilarious and i'll probably never get tired of it.

He fuckin staged everything in Borat. well almost everything. why would i want to watch that?

P.S. Did you guys (americans) find it offensive? You cop a lot of shit.

Offensive? To us? I don't think we have any business getting offended at anything at this point in history, but I would say that as a general populous, no one was offended. The movie was a phenomenon here and its all I heard about for months after it came out.

Some of the best moments in the film (the scene where Cohen went to the gun store) were completely unscripted. I found more humor in the Americans' reactions to Borat than Borat's (sometimes - no, usually offensive) actions.

I didn't find it offensive at all, I'm sure some people did, though. With the Jews and all of that... that's a pretty sensitive issue right now.

Happy Halloween 2007! In celebration of this event, here is a recipe to make your very own candy corn:

Combine 1 cup of razor blades, 2 cups of clown tears and 3/4 tablespoon spider eggs in a pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and add 2 cups hemlock and 3 ounces of fish oil. Stir until cool enough to handle. Shape and distribute.

Trick or treat!

i think you should read what i wrote again. The only parts i found funny were the unscripted parts. Actually that's not completely true, some of the unscripted parts i didn't find funny at all.

FUCK I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE FUCKING FILM. All i remember is yelling at the bitch in front of me to get off her phone. that was much more memorable

I think it's funny, but here's the thing: it has been POUNDED into my BRAIN for the past YEAR already. I guess its the equivalent of someone living in the early sixties who thinks the Beatles are OK. Don't hate 'em, but the screaming fanatics really bring it down for me.

i get you...
no one around here quotes it. my brother and i saw it and we were like 2 of 16-20 people in the theatre on opening weekend.
a bunch of people left during it.

i could see how it would be annoying if i were over-saturated with it though.

like Napoleon Dynomite. i can barely watch that anymore and it was great at first.

Napoleon Dynamite is garbage.
I haven't seen Borat, but I've seen Ali G, and based on that, I don't want to see Borat. Like someone said, simply saying offensive things isn't funny or witty, it's just irritating.
Call me crazy, I tend to like movie with acting.
