i uh... recently came into money*, a lot of money, unlimited money actually... and my ipod has become very stale with it's current musical lineup (how the fuck can i get tired of 30g's of music i dont know). so, what albums do you recommend i hunt down and buy then throw on the pod? im pretty open at this point. and some justification for the recommendation helps.

*any reference to money in this post refers to soulseek

The Halloween 2007 Badge
Happy Halloween 2007! In celebration of this event, here is a recipe to make your very own candy corn:

Combine 1 cup of razor blades, 2 cups of clown tears and 3/4 tablespoon spider eggs in a pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and add 2 cups hemlock and 3 ounces of fish oil. Stir until cool enough to handle. Shape and distribute.

Trick or treat!

John Prine - s/t, Diamonds In The Rough, Souvenirs, Sweet Revenge, or Fair & Square.
(he's the best song writer alive.)

Datarock - Datarock Datarock
(it's really fun)

i'm assuming you listen to LCD Soundsystem already. if not get Sound Of Silver as soon as you can.

Starflyer 59 is some good ol' rock & roll.

do you like good country? if so, DL everything you can find by Roger Miller, he's a genius songwriter.

¡Forward, Russia! - Give Me A Wall
(some good math rock, and if you like it check out The Photo Atlas, they're what Forward, Russia would sound like if they wrote songs)

Wow, one of your mixes is doing swell in the ratings! But remember, Bob Dole did 'swell' in the primaries...

Despite the fact that TEAM ROBOT was crushed like a Pabst can at a frat party by the might claws of TEAM MONSTER, you are still deserving of a badge... Loser.

John Martyn - Inside Out (A stoned gem of an album. Ex folkie uses 'Traffic' as his backing band and uses said band, an echoplex and a whole lot of spciness to create a homage to jazz man Pharoah Saunders. It is flawed but beautiful, and if you get the deluxe edition from Amazon, it has extra tracks including a solo guitar echoplex version of 'Outside In' that is astonishing. An overlooked genius with his most out there album!)

Celtic Steppes - Dick Heckstall-Smith (Some self interest here. Dick was my friend, and I was his manager for the last four years of his career. He was an awesome jazz/blues sax player, and there are examples of that all over the place, but this is different, a suite for large jazz band based on thousands of years of history of the Celtic people. It is a very ambitious mix of traditional themes and big band jazz. The exuberant tenor solo near the end is so joyous I cry most times I hear it. Not an easy album to track down, but it is still out there. If you can't find it though, come back to me and we will explore other ways of you hearing it. This is a flawed work, but fascinating. We were working on a choral version in the year Dick died (2004) and the work was to be expanded with another piece, 'Midi-Evil' I have fading hopes that some version of that might still see the light of day, but the original album, recorded in 1995 is worth hearing!)

I could come up with loads more ideas if you are interested.
