Track 4 from Knife Hits
Length: 00:01:51
Year: 2005
Track Description:
I've gotten the impression that about half of the MTC people are from Portland or thereabout, which is why it surprised me I had to enter this Portland band into the database. Apparently the front figure was killed in a car accident, which is tragic not least because their music was fantastic. It's almost bizarre how well the transitions work, both from Boris sludgy metal as well as to Pavement's indie guitars afterwards.

Track 4 from Barbie-Q-Killers, Volume 1
Length: 00:01:40
Year: 1994
Track Description:
It's not every day I get to include a band from my home town, and these guys even went to the same elementary school as I did, once upon a time. They started out as a punk band more punk than rock, but with middle age has become more rock than punk. This is from an album entirely consisting of covers of songs by relatively obscure American punk bands (their favorites seemed to be The Dils, which got two songs included on the album), this one a cover of a song by the Gizmos.
