Where have you gone John Hughes? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you... Is he the new Salinger?
Buck Tradition
Directed by John Hughes
Just your average John Hughes teen film. A return to form from the master of teen comedy. Of course, it takes place in a Chicago suburb.
Cast:
Waldo Buck ..... Alex Frost
Dinah Ruth Saxon .... Hannah Murray
June Saxon .... Caroline Goodall
Mitch Buck ... Christopher Meloni
Susan Buck ... Robin Wright Penn
Grandpa Lionel Buck... Paul Dooley
Thomas Buck ... TBD
Lee Buck ... TBD
////
All the men in the Buck family join the military. His grandfather served in Korea, his father and his two older brothers - Thomas and Lee. Youngest son Buck is bit more sensitive. He writes and loves to run, but is a bit on the scrawny side.
His parents at the beginning of high school deposited him at his stern but lovable grandfather's house in the Chicago suburbs. His grandfather is just learning how to live without his beloved wife of many, many years - Rosemary. His parents were stationed in Japan. They are back now and everyone is living in the house much to the consternation of Grandpa Lionel - who knows his youngest grandson isn't cut out for the military and was going to try and work it out but now that his son is back it'll be a bit harder for Lionel and Waldo to convince Mitch.
The girl of the story is Dinah Saxon, a British girl who moved to the neighborhood when Waldo was young, so they've been friends for many years. She's lived in the U.S. so long that her accent is barely there aside from when she visits her father and comes back with it again. She's a bit of a manic panic dream girl for our wayward hero.
