In general, I am a happy person. I try to be anyway. But... jeez. Sometimes you get too much, and when you try to keep going (as I did yesterday and this morning) it just gets worse and you have a meltdown.
These are songs that I can listen to that don't make me sick with their optimism, but that I can't wallow in my self-pity to. Because I never saw the point of wallowing in self-pity. I've done it, but it always makes me feel like an idiot afterwards. It's like getting high in front of your crush or giving someone you don't know a love-letter mix tape. I've done both of those, too :P
At any rate, they make me feel so much better, and I'm not yelling at the sky going, "WHY ME?" anymore.

Track Description:
This song is one of a few more slow-paced, softer songs on Kings of Leon's second album. The lyrics, however, are a different story. "On a plane, on a plane, off to see the city girls again, only bringing what I carry on, so you know that I won't be long, dripping beard, it's cold as hell and the motherfucker's gonna go to jail" SHOW LESS

Track Description:
I actually used the 1st demo from "The 77 Demos" but I'm not going to add it to the site. I haven't listened to the Libs a lot lately because everything they did just makes me sad because they (Pete) wasted all that fucking talent and the other projects they're all doing aren't nearly as good. I don't listen to them at all. Anyway, even though their songs make me sad, I still love to listen to them, and they're still my favorite band. I should listen to them more, really. *covers up last.fm page which reads "#1 The Libertines 2207 listens"* SHOW LESS

This song... okay I think it can only be described in several lyrics that I particularly love: "In the ground they're tattooing the stones With cusses like cavemen 'Yo momma was here'. They wanna run through the air With no barriers or obstacles Gunmen or guarddogs or priests And to rise from the mud And start over and over With the people all DEAD! ...In my cell I'm tattoing myself With mermaids and swallows And oh, I do swallow My momma thinks I'm grown But I'm really just little And someday I will remember..." Track 12 from Hits
Length: 00:03:18 Year: 2002 |
|
Track Description:
Jarvis's voice is amazing. In order for a sad song to really be sad for me, I always look for a little bit of anger, a little bit of desparation in the singer's voice. That's what I like about Morrissey, that's part of what I like about Regina, and that's what I like about this song. The song is almost heartbreaking. "You look like me, But please don't turn into me You look like me But you're not like me, I hope I have one, two, three Four shots of happiness I look like a big man But I only got a little soul" I'd hate to break it to Jarvis that he doesn't really look like a big man at all... he's actually rather stick-buggy. Track Description:
I love it. Lou sounds so young and miserable, narrating the sad stories of sad people. The first few months after I listened to this song for the first time, I thought it was maybe 4 minutes long. It sure as hell doesn't seem like 7 and a half minutes. The Velvet Underground have the ability to do that for me. I once listened to "Sister Ray" 4 times in a row just because I hadn't had enough. Track 1 from Sounds Of Silence
Length: 00:03:06 Year: 1966 |
|
Track Description:
I believe the song is called "The Sounds of Silence" and the artist is Simon and Garfunkel. But I'll let that go for right now. I think this song flows nicely into the final track, taking away some of the Smiths jangly rock and giving way to the Redwalls retro rock'n'roll blues Besides that, have you ever seen the Graduate? Dang this shit is played like every 5 minutes in that movie. Great movie though. And the soundtrack is awesome. It just repeats a lot. Anyways, that's not what I was going to say. The opening line of this song set the mood for the entire thing... "Hello darkness, my old friend..." SHOW LESS
