You are right about the golden god thing. I rewatched it recently so, of course, it was in my head. The avatar is of Marianne Faithfull all haggard with the effects of being with Mick Jagger presumably. It's a sketch that I found in Vanity Fair. I think the guys who do those music snob & film snob (I have that one) books sketched it.

Funny thing, when I was originally doing my King mix, I had King Tubby (St Lucia Dub) and Carole King (So Far Away) but with everything else pretty much blues (apart from Nat) I decided that their inclusion made the mixtape unbalanced so I cut them. I am thinking about doing a dub mixtape sometime in the future, with Tubby and Scientist and Eek A Mouse etc etc

Yeah.....they were awesome.There are only 2 bands I have seen where the music and my surroundings had an effect on me that was not unlike smoking weed. They played "I Awake" and I was in a trance. I couldn't shake the feeling until after their set was over.
The other band was Neurosis, and that was really scary.

I just checked out Meiko and Marla Hansen. After a while they all sound like each other, but I like them anyway. Not sure if you will, but you might like Jesse Sykes. You know when you heavily shuffle your feet to a slow song. That's what her music and voice is like. I love it. I like Keren Ann's recent album. it's sad though but very touching. now - i shut up
