I think this has been discussed before, but putting a little star or something next to "award-winning" mixes would be nice. And then having appropriately color coded stars on our profile denoting what place we took in contests is great for instant bragging rights. I mean I know we have badges, but this would be... different? Ok, it's still early and I'm not making a great argument for myself, but at least having a system showing off the award winning mixes would be nice.

it would be kinda handy if you would be notified when users on your friends list made a new tape...i mean, you could just check the "most recent" thing, but...handy.

Any way to tap the music search into some database where the add process could be simplified? I sometimes have a great idea for a mix. But the time it would take to key in new bands/new tracks outweighs the reward of doing so.

galaxiepi: we don't have the infrastructure in place to give out special rewards/awards for the contest... but I went ahead and added a little indicator of what rank the mix got. It's not much, but it's something =) Don't worry, we are going to be flushing out the awards and stuff greatly in 2.0. It should be awesome.
nathunder: I went ahead and added that feature in. if you go to 'my relationships' it will show the 20 most recent mixtapes added by your friends/foes.
shinyobject: we won't be switching to a third party database primarily because it forces us to depend on other's database design, operations (our site goes down if their's does), etc. Plus, we would lose a lot of freedom with how we want to implement music data. We know it's a pain to add music to the database, but every track that gets added is one less track to add in the future!

Oh, unrelated, but for 2.0, we should be able to choose whether it's meant to be on a CD (80 min, 400x400 px. cover art), 2CD (160 min, 400x400 px cover art), or tape (60, 90, or 120 min, whatever size the tape is px. cover art) during the making of a mixtape. Because quite a few people have some 90-120 min tapes that won't work out in the current format, and occasionally someone will make a 2CD mixtape (why I'm not sure). It also would provoke new users to get creative with their mixtape timing.

could it be possible to edit the track descriptions and liner notes of a mix that's been created? anything but the tracks themselves.
also, people associate someone with their icon much more than their name, if badges are used instead of user icons when posting tags, it's easy to mistake one person for another, unless of course, you have a very unique badge (i'm looking at YOU galaxiepi :p ) maybe just show off badges in the userprofile?

apart from personal gifts, i've always made mixtapes just for playing, they're generally much nicer than bought cds. so, to complete the transition from html to tape, i thought something like this http://www.papercdcase.com/ in this site would be good, using the track info and cover picture that are already uploaded.
