and the online/offline color indication bar on users profiles

a link in every user's profile to their top and bottom 25 artist, album and track rankings they have made and what their rankings were. this will also encourage people to rank the music.

When you look at your profiles points breakdown, maybe list how many of Artists, tracks and albums you have rated.

maybe you could make our profiles slightly more customizable...... like maybe a little bit open source-ish... but not like complete control of the look.

Comments off of the "badge" pages. Because then I can publicly declare "WTF does THIS badge mean??"

Maybe be able to add songs to profiles, or (if we feel like taking the time) the ability to add the actual song to our mixes, not just titles and descriptions, so that people could actually preview our mixes.

adding the actual song to the mix is a huge legal nightmare unless we shell out $10k a year in licensing fees...something we can't do at this time. There are some options, like being able to play 30 second clips through from amazon/itunes, but those clips are kind of shitty. Plus, a lot of the being used on here isn't on those services anyway.

Anyway...until we have 1000's of users I don't see streaming music even close to a possibility, which sucks, but it's just kind of the way things go.

I like the songs to profiles idea though, maybe have some of your favorite artists/albums/tracks be links to their respective pages in the db.

Badge comments are long overdue, I'll get to it when I have a chance (should be pretty quick to set up).

I second curses and spells...maybe if we could have swords and shields, and figure out a way to set up 40-person mixtape raids. You guys all have TeamSpeak and a mic right?

I would like to make the profile more customizable, but I don't want users to be able to add their own html. Ideally, I would like to have like 20 'features' available to display on the profile, and the user can check which ones they want to display and in what order. However, with actual html (like myspace), it gives too much freedom, and i think it ends up looking very unprofessional and ugly.

Descriptions on photos...they do save, they just don't look like it! But yeah, that whole system needs to be fixed, it's broken.

Remember Me requires us to use cookies, which I am for, but eric is against...take it up with him! =D

fix the link problem in the comments.. like when you put a URL in a comment it always breaks it and adds a space in it.. or allow us to use the A HREF= tag in our comments to post links.

also, it would be cool if in the "recent updates" section it displayed what rating you gave each user so you know if you should go back and re-rate someone after giving them negative points for not filling in stuff, etc.

I really like Alice's last idea of viewing what you've rated. And I'm also very pro-chatroom.
I know this has already been said, but I think it would make things a lot more convenient for browsing things: Lists of all artists, users, mixtapes, albums, etc., with the ability to change the order to alphabetical, chronological, last rated, etc..

Also, if we ever do get songs on the profiles, do NOT make them play automatically. I hate MySpace for that.

One last thing: Maybe a modified version of Newgrounds' three-column portal layout (newest submissions, best rated submissions this week, best rated submissions ever) would work well to organize the mixtapes.

Hey jaysix, you know you can go into your account settings on Myspace and click a little box that disables songs from playing automatically, FYI.

Also I think there should be weekly/monthly voting contests on things such as Breakup Mixes, Party Mixes, I-Hate-My-Life Mixes, etc... People nominate certain mixes and there's an established amount of time to vote for your favorite. The winner gets a badge and the mix gets an extra 50 points, or something. Same can be said for voting on User Profiles, Avatars, Liner Notes, etc...

Also, it'd be nice to be able to see people's mixes-in-progress. Don't allow people to rate them, but do allow people to give comments (that would then be viewable through a link once the mix goes live)-- this way people can say "well I was thinking of adding this song here, what do you all think?" and then we can give criticism and help before it's too late. Maybe people can opt to keep unfinished mixes private until they're done, also.

I definitely like the "profile options" idea, where you can choose what people can/ can't see on your profile. I also agree about no crazy custom html/css ridiculousness.

And again, themed mixtape contests (or any other theme contest) is a great idea.

Additionally, there should be some kind of sign-up list or searchable voluntary badge for people who want to trade mixtapes IRL, instead of them just being an intellectual exercise on this site.

Hasn't someone been talking for a while about wanting to go back and edit live mixes? Not to change the mix, obviously, but if we see an informational error after it's published (like when I accidentally listed an album as being released in 0000 instead of 2000) we can fix that.

openmicmike- fixing an error like that can be done in the "music" section of the site.. if you just look up the album you added and click "view album" you can change any data you have personally entered into the system, or you can submit a moderation on any data that someone else has entered into the system if you think it is incorrect.

How about having a "My Favorite 5 Mixes" thingy on our personal profile pages. That way people can see what we are into, and it will be another way of making this a more tied-together network.

hey jordan, thanks for input...the idea has been on the drawing board for awhile now, but user interest might push it up on the list.

In User Central, the random profiles displayed the right have dysfunctional links. Just gives you an error page when you click on one of them. I apologize if this has already been brought up.

Here's a suggestion. Get me a badge because I am bored enough to read every single update.
