Forum Ideas
7/26/06 2:06pm
Alright, so I started work on the forum. It will be a little while before it is ready to go, but I wanted to get your opinion on something.

Would you guys rather have a simple straightforward forum (nothing fancy), that could be expanded on over time?

Or do you want a fancy full-featured forum from the get go?

I am leaning towards the former, only because we can get a working forum on the site sooner that you can all use.

Anyway, give me some feedback...also if you have ideas for features you'd love to see, lemme know and I'll maybe put them on my list.

Former. Just make a really basic forum, I wouldn't think we need anything fancy.

I vote simple. It'll be the forum with training wheels.

Simple gets the job done. Let the topics fill the fancy role.

Basic but don't make it like...unorganised cause that's gross. Anyway, like I said. If there's a forum I'm never leaving.

I'm glad you guys all think simple is better...I was fearing something more complicated would be desired, and that sounds like a lot of work.

What I will probably do is make one version that is a typical forum...and then I'll make a version 2 that has the same functionality, but uses AJAX for better efficiency, and a more fluid experience (AJAX is what allows tags to be posted or profiles to be rated without having to reload the page)

a forum would be awesome, especially without having to reload the page, i'm too damn lazy.

I'm glad that you guys are making the board yourself, and not using some premade board (phpBB, InvisionBoard, etc.) that wouldn't allow full integration.

I'd say the most important thing first isn't the features of the board, but making it completely seemless with the site. I don't care about features if they're akward to use.

A basic forum sounds pretty sweet. I'm in need of a new one anyway (:

My Marine dad always said Keep It Simple Stupid.. Work Smarter, Not Harder. The kicker: Your friend David is the biggest pussy on the planet, makes you look real tough! Yeah, he said all that. The first two speak of my work ethic!

How about we keep it really simple and send responses via snail mail?
