This holiday season, I decided I'd make a CD for all of my friends. Just one CD, which is lazy, sure, but it's a calculated mix that explores my journey from arrest and mental breakdown, dropping out of school, living in a hippie-house and drinking all the time, to the sense of happiness that I now have, and have spent most of my young life trying to attain.

My old roommate made me a CD with some fun songs but mainly composed of depressing folkie tunes.
I did the same for him.
Here is my product.
PS that's him with his cat.

The GBLT (giblets) of the world, like all people, have very different tastes in music. There is a wide array of music to choose from in this world, and we in the queer community take full advantage of that. As a testament to the latter, one of my favorite musicians is the RZA. I stan for him, seriously.
That being said, there are certain elements in a song that attract me to them for reasons that I feel deal with my sexual orientation.
Factors include:
-Themes of homo-romance
-Severely danceable music
-Brooding (operatic voice included)
-Gay singers
This is a wide range of things. See, I told you gay people love variety.
Let's assess.

Middle school was rough for me.
That picture to your left is from my last year trying to goth-out.
As this mix demonstrates, I was really, really bad at being a goth. After growing my hair down to my shoulderblades, I cut it all of and stopped wearing my bondage pants almost entirely. Sometimes I still use them for costumes.

I have mixed feelings about morningtime. I have woken up to a number of these songs, and a lot of them I imagine myself waking up to in a movie. Next to a hunky man. Morningtime sex is probably the best idea I've ever had.

Sometimes when I listen to a song, about 20 seconds before it ends, I scramble to wherever it is coming from and hit the repeat button. Eventually I forget that the repeat button is on and I think to myself "why do I know all the words to this CD I just got?"
...I catch on to myself pretty quickly.
After a few days of not listening to the song, I intergrate it into normal song listening status, or sometimes favorite song status, which is where I will sometimes just skip right to that song.

A wise comedian once said, "In order to drink gin, you must be 45, a woman..... and on the stairs."
He then went on about women who cry on the stairs after drinking too much gin.
These are songs I feel I would listen to in that situation. Or maybe songs I would play in the backround of a movie in that situation. There aren't that many, but this idea was a demanding one.
It got a lot sadder than I initially planned, but I think it's still pretty bitchin'.

I was thinking "Maybe I shouldn't actually make a cohesive mix."
You know, like when you make a suicide at a fast food resteraunt. It tastes bad, but you're really proud of yourself for defying the laws of "putting things together only if they go together." I'm sticking it to the man by putting coke in my sprite, sprite in my dr. pepper, and dr. pepper in my hawaiin punch. I'm gonna be sick, but I'll still be a fuckin' rebel, ya'll.

Rory Gilmore haunts my dreams. I hate her for it. Get out of my head, lady.
I feel like I should have a more obscure music taste to be on this site, but fuck it. I'm ready to make another kind-of-mainstream mix.

I gave this to a friend of mine for her birthday. She likes adult contemporary music.

This is a mix I could listen to at least twice in a row while I'm in my bed, alone or otherwise. It's short, but well lived.
