Well, hello. As you might have guessed, I'm obsessed with making mix tapes and CDs... however, my CDs usually throw people off because I tend to fill it with songs nobody's ever heard of. :-) Showtunes are my genre of choice, and I hold fast to the theory that most people don't like showtunes because all they know is The Sound of Music. I do listen to other things besides showtunes - I LIKE just about any kind of music - but those are the only CDs I actually go out of my way to buy.
My avatar, by the way, is of pretty much my favorite musical artist in the entire world... the phenomenal Norbert Leo Butz. His voice makes me melt.

As the unofficial Mixtape Collective showtunes fanatic, I decided to take it upon myself to make what will probably be the only showtunes mix in this contest.
The links between showtunes are actually really easy to find, and I kept finding I could end my mix multiple ways at only five or six songs, but that wouldn't have been any fun, would it?
We begin and end with songs sung by my favorite musical theater fellow, the wonderful Norbert Leo Butz. Now if only I could come up with less silly names for my mixes...

Gosh darn it, I got my dates wrong and thought I had time to submit it for the contest. But I spent all this time on it, so I present it to you anyway. Since I like to shake life up a little bit and create all-showtunes mixes, here's a monster mix consisting only of songs from the musicals. Something of an emphasis on sympathy for monsters. Really, they can't be *all* bad, can they?

This is my first mix on here, so bear with me. This mix combines two of my absolute favorite things - showtunes, and songs about unrequited love. I've made several of these CDs (although for a casual listener, one is enough) . . . perfect for those times when you just need to angst out and let the music say what you're feeling. Then you get up and go about your day and feel much better. I only wish I was artistically creative enough to come up with better cover art for the mix.

I care as much about theatre as I do about music, but I am afraid my prejudice against Lloyd Webber is more about him as a person as much as it is about his music. I liked his earlier shows, up to and including Evita. You are right though, in a monster mix, you had to have something from Phantom!
