The Halloween 2007 Badge
Happy Halloween 2007! In celebration of this event, here is a recipe to make your very own candy corn:
Combine 1 cup of razor blades, 2 cups of clown tears and 3/4 tablespoon spider eggs in a pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and add 2 cups hemlock and 3 ounces of fish oil. Stir until cool enough to handle. Shape and distribute.
Trick or treat!

Ed Finnerty and I had been kicking around this theme for doing a Bukowski mix. I am posting mine. Just some songs that would have a place in some of his books. This was pretty fun to make.
Hope I did Hank some justice.

I have a confession.
I really can't stand people's 80's mixes. I think most are bland and lack imagination. And I notice that most of them are put together by people who were born in the 80's. They don't know that most people are so sick of hearing "Sunglasses At Night" and "Girls Just Want To Have Fun".I like those songs too,but I have to be in the mood to listen to them.
So I thought about what songs I liked growing up in the 80's and it was pretty diverse.I didn't put a lot on here that I wanted(Public Enemy, Dead Milkmen,King Diamond) because it would be a 2-cd set.
These are songs that I like. There are lot's of memories tied up in these songs and some helped me out getting through the teen years. But ask yourself,if you grew up in the 80's, what would you put on yours?

Fall is here.
I have a batch of songs that I listen to quite a bit during Fall. However, they happen to be really depressing. I usually listen to them when it's raining out or if I just want to remind myself that it's Autumn.
A lot of them remind me of my old apartment in Colorado. They also remind me of my usual Sunday routine of meeting up with friends around 11 A.M. for breakfast and the consumption of diner food, pots of coffee and conversations about music. Afterwards, I would drive to Manitou to do my laundry. Then I would drive back home to listen to records while I cleaned and talked on the phone to my favorite girl in the whole wide world.
Now I am living in the same house with her and I am looking forward to spending my favorite part of the year together. She could make some pumpkin cupcakes and I will make some cider for us. Shopping for Halloween decorations and pumpkin carvings. Renting horror movies and curling up with each other on the couch.
I can't wait.

Title is from a vivid dream I had years and years ago. I dreamt my friends threw me a party and they wouldn't let me leave the house. They said that I would die if I left the party and would try anything to keep me there. I would say "Thank you all very much....but it's late and I really must be going". And they would all get up and sit me back down and fill my glass and make a big fuss over me. I don't think I ever left. I really wish I had The Smoking Popes "Follow The Sound" for this.

I needed something to listen to on my way to work because I am in a rut. I grabbed some new stuff, some familiar and some that I thought would be good to listen to on my usual 30 minute drives to and from work.
Mix name is from a line in the John Legend track.

I have had a rough outline of this mix for a while. I keep adding and subtracting songs all the time.
A major source of inspiration for this mix was the Poptopia! series from Rhino. If you can find these 3 discs,do so. You will not be disappointed.
These are some of my favorite pop songs. The hooks are there, the backup harmonies....everything about a perfect pop song is in each of these in my opinion. They make me sing along in the car on a nice summer day and get stuck in my head for days at a time.
Enjoy.

I recently got back into contact with an old friend thru the power of Myspace. I used to make tapes for him back when we worked together in a semiconductor fabrication plant. He asked me to send him something new to listen to, so I put this cd together for him. It clocks in at 75 minutes and 37 seconds.
