TEAM 97 -- Third Place
Long before being knocked up with Eddie Murphy's illegitimate child, Scary Spice was on top of the world. Now, she's nothing but washed up. It's kind of sad, really. Just by scoring third place in this contest, you've got infinitely more street cred than Scary. Congrats!

so i recently went through a breakup and as a result of that - i take long walks at night to ruminate on my life. a girl needs protection, right? so i dusted off my brass knuckles that say "daddy's girl" on them and headed off to procure a butterfly knife in chinatown on grant street. anyway, the girl who sold me the knife told me casually that "if i was you, i'd learn how to say 'what the fuck is up, bitch' in every language ever conceived. then they'd know you wasn't playin." so i am.
and springboarding off of that, i've made it a huge goal to learn to speak spanish at a conversational level. pretty much, i'm going to be that much sexier. and to do this, i've been busting out my favourite spanish/portugese/etc. speaking musicians. and so, this mix is for all you noobs who want some cultura.
please, if you want any mixes of old school spanish pop or anything, i'll be glad to send you some.
p.s. i was supposed to make a mix dedicated to eraserhead, but i want it to be perfect so that will be the next one, yeeeeee.

The 90s were a time of major growth and development for me. I was 8 years old when I bought my first cd: Radiohead's Pablo Honey. A proud day for the music gods, but then my musical taste became exponentially worse by trendy standards. There may be a few gems in here, but the lot of them are guilty pleasures. I based this mix on all the songs that tend to rear their heads on a night of drunken karaoke. Because when it comes to what people want to hear when they're good and smashed - it's all about the 90s.

Beeg up, rrrreckon-ize y'all. If you didn't see Beat Street back in the day, I don't know what kind of self loathing tosser you are, but you're lucky I concocted this badass little jem for you to get funky-fresh-dressed-to-impressed-ready-to-party to. Then you can grab your best mates and bust out the mini-competition scene from house party that you so conveniently memorized in 6th grade. Jeee-yeah. This mix is all about living it up to those guilty pleasures (and awesome dance beats) that everyone tries to pretend they don't know the words to. Don't even act like you didn't shake your arse to a jock-jam once upon a time.
Oh, and that album cover is real. Really horrifying.

Sometimes shagging is about feeling sexy more than actually being sexy. The perfect act of love is confident, smooth, and just the right length of time. There's nothing worse than an endless fuck, so here are my top ten songs for a truly sexy, classy time. Alright.

Humanity loves playing god, and what's closer to godliness than creating?
Robots are a direct product of our own work, which is why we love them and discipline them as a parent would a rebellious child. I identify more with robots because in both their being and mythology, they do all that we do: raise up, bring down, make love, make hate, dance, sing, and gather together. They are made in our image. They serve and obey us. What have monsters done for you lately?
I am robot. I am android. I am an automaton. I am a mobile, working, mechanic dream. I only work and live to progress. I strive to create, change, and please. I surpass even my wildest expectations. I grow. I destroy. I terrify.
Love,
The Transformers, Tobor, Rodney, Inspector Gadget, r2-d2, c3po, Maximillian, T-1000, Maria of Metropolis, The Cylons, Robby, Mechagodzilla, Bishop, Johnny5, Megaman, Mechani-Kong, Daft Punk, Gort, DavidAI, Astroboy, Rosie Jetson, Asimo,
...and the rest of the robotic collective.

Once I T.A.-ed for a 90-year old English Lit. Professor who was quite softspoken and meek. There was one student in particular who would constantly be half an hour late to class, talk endlessly on his mobile from the moment he sat down, then would leave fifteen minutes early. My Professor said nothing until about two weeks before the end of the semester. "Mr. Johnson.. what grade do you think you'll be getting in this class?" he asked the stonefaced student. "Uhhh, Iono.. a EFF?" he said. The Professor shook his head. "Actually, you're getting a D." The student's eyes opened wide in surprise, as he asked: "What, why?!" After a pause, Professor cleared his throat and simply said: "Because, Mr. Johnson. Sometimes F stands for 'fuck.' And you're not worth one."

I caught wind of a new Wes Anderson film on the horizon called "The Darjeeling Limited," set to come out in 2008. The story follows three brothers represented by Jason Schwartzman (YESSS!), Adrien Brody (YESSSSS!), and the ever-present Owen Wilson (FUCK YESS!!), who go on a trip to India after their father dies. I know nothing about the actual plot, but I've always fantasised about being able to compile a soundtrack for W.A. himself, and after much thought, this would be it. Enjoy, W.A. fans and haters alike.

This is just a top ten of songs that always make me laugh instantaneously, either because the subject matter evokes a guffaw from me (rare) or the music is simply unthinkable. They have brought me a lot of happiness and are associated with good times in my life. Enjoy.

Being sad, morose, or melancholy is an enormous part of being human, and seeing as how this world just keeps getting bigger, so do the feelings of loneliness. This comp is of songs that remind me of feeling that way, and having the knowledge that there are times when nobody can fucking help. Listen and weep, weiners.
