Hi there folks.
Since many people have many good ideas for contests, I want people to post their ideas and after a week of gathering those up we can vote on them. The person who comes up with the winning idea gets a badge. The winning will obviously be the next contest. So open up your contest hole and pull something nice and shiny out!

1. "THE APPLE FOR TEACHER MIX" A mix created for the pleasure and delectation of our very own new fab gear and groovy contest moderator, Mr Sledgbrainerd himself.
2. "THE PEOPLE DECIDE" A mix of music with a political theme to it. As with all mixes, open to interpretation, but I was thinking of any song from any era with any kind of politicqal leaning or reference.
3. "NOAH'S ARK OF NOISE" A mix featuring animal tracks two by two. e.g. 2 songs about dogs followed by two songs about chickens, etc etc. Maybe we could have a horrible rule for this one that once someone has posted songs with a particular animal, that animal couldn't be used again. One way to get quick spur of the moment entries.
4. "FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE" A broad one this. Songs about Russia, songs with a Russian theme, Russian songs, songs that sound like they might have come from Russia, interpret it as you will.
5. "THE YEAR OF BUBBLING UNDER" Select the year of your choice, and fill the mix up with album tracks from that year that never went top 40.
Thats me for now. Competitions again. Life is indeed good.

I really like all Johnny's ideas, though I think in Noah's Ark, only letting each animal in one mix is just way too hard...
Some other ideas:
1. In the vein of Robot vs Monster, "PIRATE vs NINJA". Two teams duke it out, only the most awesome survive.
2. The Western soundtrack - Make up a cliched story, and present the soundtrack to your imaginary film.
3. The music you should have listened to growing up, but didn't.
4. Around the World - A mix about (more or less) exotic places.

Mixtape Contest XVII -- Third Place
The age-old tradition of Three Kings Day is to fill the shoes of good children with candy, while they sleep. Bad children get shoes filled with scorpions and other venomous creatures.
Congrats on third place!

You could steal a theme from the FTOTZ club and do "Sin." There are infinite possibilities for songs about bad behavior, but also sin and redemption.

We could also take an existing movie, and change the soundtrack. I don't know if the contest would be about one movie in particular (probably not), or if each mixtape should have its own. Then specific scenes where music was used would be re-tracked, and in the description field for every song picked would be the name of the scene in the movie and the song originally used in it, and it would be in chronological order. The Alternate Soundtrack, you know. A real challenge could be to do this with musicals (only) and find songs that could replace the original songs exclusively written for the musical.
Just a thought! Hope I presented it well. I love all the other posted ideas.

All these ideas are good. The last one you said Bea sounds like F-U-N fun.
I also really like the pirate vs. ninja idea. Although who in their right mind would choose ninja? I mean COME ON!!! PIRATES!!!
Here are some very on the spot ideas:
1. A mix for your favourite place in the whole world.
2. A mix for a celebrity/politician/public figure.
3. A food mix. A mix about food because food is good and i'm a bit hungry and i felt like i should have a third idea.
P.S. I wouldn't vote for any of those ideas i just wanted to contribute something.

I'm all for Calaveth's third idea, and Bea's idea.
Yay for Pirates, though I already have a Land Pirate mix.
1. Forget Henry, Will You Accept My Mix, Lucy Whitmore*

I like the idea of a "Rep Your Hood" contest: make a mix about your hometown/current town, etc.
