One of my favorite lines from Kelly on The Office (NBC).

As far as saddening song, "Time to Say Goodbye" gets me teary-eyed everytime, so I don't want it on a mix. I assemble most of my mixes at work now and sad songs don't get a lot, if any, play time here.

I'm curious about the thought process is behind the making of your mixes. Don't divulge songs if you don't want. Will you include: songs that amplify a somber/sad mood, songs that are flat out sad ass, songs that may appeal to the collective cool kids table?

I'm still working out what direction I want this "sad" mix to take. I'll check back when I have more to share.

"Transatlanticism" seems to be a buzz sad song. It meant a lot to me a year ago when my son was born, so I'd rather have that on a different mix than the contest mix.

I actually found it hard to make my mix when it's gloriously sunny outside. I fare much better in a rainy Oregon winter.
But I made mine a theme with which I have a lot of strong emotions and past experience, but then I felt I had to distance my own experiences from the descriptions to keep it slightly sane and coherant... unfortunately looking back on it now it seems completely cold and even forced. Especially as it came out 2 minutes after Alice's incredibly emotional mix tribute to her father. Eh, c'est la vie.

I just took a mixtape i already created and made it more depressing & lonesome. Which was relatively easy considering my present mood.
