description:
i made this mix from the huge collection of vinyl i inherrited from my grandmother who i watched die last year (3-9-06) of Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer a very rare rapid destroying of said person. she was 63. i made the actual tape a long time ago but it was hard to put it up here. it just brings up so many feelings. plus, the want to get it right, do her justice, but in the end i don't think i could even start describing her. it would take far to long. Sledg knows, Val knows, eric knows, t-bag knows, i think this is one of my favorite mixtapes ever i've made. i like to listen to it. it fills me with a warmth only marilyn could give. and kick in the ass only marilyn could give.
this is also like the story of how i got into music. when i was in junior high i would rade the collection saying that i was only borowing them. but i think both her and i knew that they were mine for the taking. it started with jimi hendrix, pink floyd, and the doors. and of course the Beatles. i fucking loved the beatles. led zeppelin, tom petty, dire straits, david bowie! Marilyn loved david bowie. or "booie" as she would say.
was THE coolest person. (period)
