description:

This mix is made for a girl. A girl with whom I have had a long history which dates back fifteen years. She is the only one who truly makes me feel unlonely. The title comes from something she wrote to me. It's early, but if this ain't the real thing, I won't ever know what is. I'll spill more of the beans in the song descriptions below.

You can't fight fate and it is fate that brought us back together, so I'll just take a deep breath, take a pull of scotch, and be happy for what is happening, because I never in a million years thought I'd be at this point. Well, anyway, I didn't have the guts to put this song on a mix for her back then. I think I did once, but recorded another song over it. She was always with someone, and we were just too scared by the intensity of our relationship, then I decided to write her a 60 page letter proclaiming my feelings. She found this overwhelming and sort of gave me this non-answer that haunted me for a couple years thereafter. Then we sort of drifted. A few years later I found out she worked a quarter mile from my house, so I'd stop in a couple times a year and chat about this and that with her and her coworkers. Fast forward to now and we're both single. She calls me up a few times, but I put her off because I'm frankly scared by how hard she was or was not pursuing me. I wasn' sure, but then after a conversation online where she solved the mystery of why she couldn't be more than a friend with me(fear of love), I regretted drifting away. We could have saved each other so much heartache. She told me that I would always be the one that got away and it blew my mind because I just thought she didn't think of me that way or something. I felt like I had misread a winning lottery ticket, thrown it away, then realized a few years later what an idiot I had been. She feels stupid for leaving me in the dark. I trembled at this revelation. So yeah, it's a lot to take in. Anyway, we met in person after that, and I had the best night of my life. Now healing from past relationships has to happen for both of us before we can really be serious, but nothing worthwhile comes without patience and effort, right? Alright, I'm gushing. I'll stop.
