description:
I guess this whole tape is sort of a critique of punk, by the people who play it. This tape is dedicated to the assholes, the hangers-on, people looking to cash-in, the tryhards, the fashion-obsessed, the fakes, the elitist wannabes, the hypocrites, and oh...so many others.
I decided to keep this one short, keeping it to one side of a 60-minute tape. This isn't due to a lack of material, as every hardcore band ever has written at least one song about "the scene." In fact, it's all some bands write about, and i think it makes for pretty vapid lyrics. It doesn't really matter how clever you are or how many good lines you use, when it's all you talk about, that's lame. So the length of this tape is simply because there's not a lot to say about it, and i didn't really want to rehash the same messages for another thirty minutes. I considered making this just side two, and making side one completely ironic...basically songs by bands who are being hypocritical, inane, or who fall into the catagories above. So i'd include bands like Chain of Strength (lolz @ "True 'til Death"), Vegan Reich, Anti-Flag (i was thinking "Angry Young and Poor" would be a great choice), the Casualties, et cetera. But eventually i decided i wasn't much into that idea. So instead of having to endure thirty minutes of shit before the good stuff, it's just straight to the fun. Enjoy.

Track Description:
So i thought, "What better way to start off an album about the commercialization of punk than a song that starts out completely electronic?" Genius, i know. And while SLC Punk isn't a very good movie, i do agree with the quote this band included. "Wouldn't it be more of an act of rebellion if you didn't spend so much time buying blue hair dye and going out to get 'punky' clothes? It just seems so petty. You want to be an individual, right? Well you look like you're wearing a uniform. You look like a punk. That's not rebellion. That's fashion." SHOW LESS

Track Description:
This song is where the title came from, because i was having intense difficulties coming up with a mixtape title. This song says "This is a dead horse, being beaten." I like Light the Fuse and Run's lyrics a lot. So neat. "We may as well be watching TV with our hands in our pockets, taking them out to clap." SHOW LESS

Track Description:
I remember reading an old interview with this band, and Wes was saying that I.C. was Ian Curtis, and Drake was Nick Drake. Just a fun fact for everyone. "Every second that goes by is one thats gone for good. Are you throwing away possible memories to a frevered life of "woulds" and "coulds"? We may have missed our chance and we may never be young again, but fuck living a sick day life. Fuck dead beat kids. And fuck your falsehoods. So when are you gonna cash in your raincheck? Track Description:
What Toru Okada says about this song: "After Toru Okada played our first show in Austin, Texas i was really upset. Not because of the way it went but because of the fact that a lot of people refused to pay and stood outside. That summer i came to feel that out of the many friends i loved, few people really supported what we had or even cared about it as a community. It was my first realization that punk rock can leave you more frustrated, confused, and isolated from people. This is not some song trying to 'call out' people for not 'supporting the scene.' Rather it is about how punk rock / hardcore is such a positive thing but can also end up only serving to further isolate people from each other in many different ways." SHOW LESS
