liner notes

this one time sophomore year in college i was visiting a friend at mit and somebody, way up on the top floor of the dorm, in the thing that was called the tower, was playing Suicide. so I walked up to find the right staircase and went into this kid's room, which was lit with purple light bulbs and had from floor to ceiling giant tanks filled with exotic fish. i asked the guy what was this music and he gave me the cd to have. it was a pretty nice moment.

"only suckers worry about saving their souls. who the hell should care about saving his soul when it is every man's duty to lose it intelligently."

I am seriously addicted to this website.

The Friday the 13th Badge I
Friday the 13th taught us all the heartwarming lesson that if you are a camp counselor, it's probably not in your best interest to let that (potentially mentally retarded [see wikipedia]) kid swim alone while you are trying to get a piece of ass.

Yeah I live in LA, but i havent had much time to explore too deeply yet. Ive lived here for a pretty busy year and a half. Ill check that place out though. I still need to hit up a few other museums ive been wanting to go to. Im bummed i missed a Dali exhibit a few months back. They were showing the animated film Dali did wuth Walt Disney. I really wish i could have seen it.

Also, I appreciate the walk of shame compliment.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I didn't really know Karen Dalton that well, so I listened to 'In My Own Time' a lot on Yahoo music. Stylistically she reminded me of Joanna Newsome, and historically, Billie Holiday, but I guessed you would have thought of both of them. You could try Mary Coughlan. She still records, but I really liked her first live album, 'Tired & Emotional' back in the 80s. On her earlier material in particlar there is some similararity in vocal style, her writing is top notch and she seems to have similar bluesy roots. Another Irish singer/songwriter, this time contemporary is Eleanor McAvoy. Her first album was called 'Early Hours' and it features a killer cover of 'Memphis Tennessee'. Her own stuff is wonderful though. On the male side, I would always push obscure Brit John Martyn. "Outside In" is an eclectic but great way to start! I don't know if this helps, but you never know!
