Contest mixes do have an abnormally high tendency to score in the upper marks -- in 2.0 should we keep real mixes vs. contest mixes separate?

yes i believe so, cause this mix isnt my best. but for some reason it got rated really high. I mean i know the reasons, but i feel that this will now overshadow some of my other mixtapes.

i think some sort of distinction would be a good idea.. There are quite a few contest mixes in the top 10, and while these mixes are awesome, so are a lot of non-contest mixes. Contest mixes may be getting RATED higher because people are rating them more in comparison to the other contest mixes rather than on their overall goodness...
Contest mixes also get much more exposure than regular mixes, leading to a higher overall score because more people view and rate the mixes. If someone creates an awesome mix, and 5 more people create mixes right after it, their mix gets pushed off the front page, losing exposure very quickly. If the mix is a contest mix, tons of people are going to click the contest link and see a list of the contest mixes and check out that mix.

i completely agree.
my last mix which in my opinion is my best. was created this weekend, when no one was on. THen come monday it got pushed right off from a wave of new mixes.
ps there will be a sendspace for that one. i spent way to much time of the transitions of that one for people outside of my group not to hear it.
