A smattering of vibes of warmth and light...
And no, I didn't use the Beach Boys Good Vibrations (a favorite of John McCain's who I believe would be far from heavenly for this country). Track 6 is actually about 1/2 as long as the time displayed (I used only Part 1).

1 Elvis Costello : (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding?
Rockin' for good will and brotherly love (who says Rock has to be aligned with sex and drugs; not that sex is ungodly, it's just dragged through the sewer by a lot of ungodly folks).

I read an interview with Brian Wilson, in the recent Uncut, that he felt that he has never matched "Good Vibrations" with anything he has written since. He said (in his own words) that he has come to terms with that fact, and I was partly inspired and saddened when I read that. It is still fresh on my mind, so I had to regurgitate it here. Love me some Gladys Knight and the Pips!

My favorite is the Wilbert Harrison, though Harold & Maude is one of our favorite movies of all time. Great job, as usual, Joe!

Thanks ballroom_pink... The movie Harold & Maude came out in late 1971, but no contract was ever signed to produce a soundtrack album for the movie. The song (used here as track 9) first appeared on the album "Footsteps in the Dark - Greatest Hits, Volume Two" that was issued in late 1984. A vinyl soundtrack album was finally put together as a labor of love in a 2,500 copy limited edition in December of 2007 (by a cat named Cameron Crowe) which quickly sold out. By the end of May, 2008, you could buy a copy on ebay for between $100-150. One can only hope that it will be reissued (now you have to pay at least $199 or more, if you can find it at all). More info can be found at this link: http://mog.com/ Sonic_Agent/blog_post/142457 [After a google search, there seems to have been a Japanese issue bootleg soundtrack of the movie in the '70s.]
