description:
The early 70's. Rock ran out of steam a bit. Punk was just round the corner. All kinds of shit was just around the corner, but in Britain the kids were discovering shiny clothes, impossibly huge heels, and lipstick and glitter. Boys always would be boys, but just for a while they enjoyed dressing up as girls a bit as well. Glam rock, bless it.

Track 1 from Can the Can
Length: 00:03:58
Year: 1973
Track Description:
Quite a few glamrock records came out on the RAK label, produced by Mickie Most, with the songs written by Chapman and Chinn. This is a good example. Suzi was an American who had appeared as Leather Trocadero on 'Happy Days' but now had a pseudo biker rock band with her husband Len Tuckey. Just as in every movement or fad, some acts get picked up along the way who at first glimpse you would think didn't fit the profile. So it was with Suzi Q.

Track Description:
Ok, here he is. The king and queen of Brit glam. This is hopefully a track you didn't expect. Originally a B side, but worthy of inclusion because a) it is bloody good, and b) a few years back, there was a really good movie about a glam rock star in the 70s that was called 'Velvet Goldmine.'

Mr Sayer soon became the deliverer of schlocky ballads, but this early single saw him wearing a clown suit and imploring that he wouldn't let the show go on. I thought he would go on to be a major talent in the mould of Bowie. Just goes to show what thought did!

Track 4 from Dynamite
Length: 00:03:52

Track Description:
This was another glam era classic from a band who really wanted to do Brit versions of fifties rock and roll. This song was great to doing the biker dance two. Two drunken shitheads in leather jackets standing in front of each other and as one nods to the left the other nods to the right, but remember, they were DRUNK, so concussion was the only possible outcome. Fun though!

TEAM 97 -- Third Place
Long before being knocked up with Eddie Murphy's illegitimate child, Scary Spice was on top of the world. Now, she's nothing but washed up. It's kind of sad, really. Just by scoring third place in this contest, you've got infinitely more street cred than Scary. Congrats!

EXCELLENT!!
I love a bit of glam. I remember when i started getting into it in the 80s. I listened to every track on this several times (except velvet goldmine as I only got that when the re-released ziggy in the early 90s) I havent heard tiger feet for years
Great!
