description:
This is something I cobbled together for the International Mixtape Project August assignment. Since The Supremes and The Go-Betweens both ended up being included, it stood to reason that I also include Comet Gain's "The Ballad of the Mixtape", which gives a shout-out to both. I also stuck on a Robert Plant song that I learned about on this site.

The final song, which wouldn't fit is Pure Ecstasy's "Pressure Drop".

Track 0 from Vivre sa vie
Length: 00:03:07
Year: 1962
Track Description:
I had to rip this off from a DVD because, to my dismay, the soundtrack was never released. Anna Karina dances around a poolhall trying to capture the male gaze of a pair of pimps. Not as cool as the dance in Le Band Apart, but it's Anna Karina so you know it's bring, brang, brung.

Track 2 from Magic Box
Length: 00:02:12
Year: 1985
Track Description:
This Aussie band lasted a couple of years before they went the way of so many garage bands of the 60's. I heard this song playing during a scene in that great movie known as Chopper, the saga of the most charismatic Australian criminal of recent years, Mark Reade. This is a song that I think Lux Interior probably dug.

Length: 00:04:18

Track Description:
This is a truly interesting concept: let Dean Wareham, of Galaxie 500 and Luna fame, and Britta Phillips, his wife and bandmate in Luna, sift through unreleased Andy Warhol screen tests of Factory folks and record music to accompany 13 of them. This gorgeous track was chosen for Edie Sedgwick. Check it out on youtube sometime.
