description:
Although many stories are well told when sung, some seem to have a greater impact when spoken, with a musical background. This is also a devise used by those who are incapable of singing, such as William Shatner's narration of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". That song unfortunately is one that, for me at least, induces repeated cringes, and I've spared most everyone by not including it here.

William Shatner is not the only actor to have narrated a song. I've chose to include four others here by actors (tracks 4, 5, 12 & 13).

This is one of my shorter mixes, clocking in at just 48m19s.

Track 1 from America, Why I Love Her
Length: 00:02:58
Year: 1973
Track Description:
Sure this is schmaltzy, but I had to include it. Not only does this 2nd to the last song mirror track 2 well, but it also mirrors an essay I wrote a few years before this song came out when I was in junior high. Labeled "Why I Love America", I chose to write it as if John Wayne had wrote it. I ended up winning the contest for the county in Upstate New York.

I know a suprisingly large amount of these. if I would have done something like this, I would have included British material that I am more familiar with like the Peter Sellers spoken word Beatles covers, "Help" & "A Hard Days Night" . In fact I did do a spoken word mix twenty years ago, both of those were on it, but the only other one I can remember is Zappa's "Dumb All Over"
