description:
This is not intended to be a completely sarcastic thing, although it is partially one i suppose, simply because i have a habit of not taking anything seriously. I have been depressed with relative consistency for several years now, and while it's not exactly a picnic, i'm not about to blow my brains out tommorow either.
For me, depression is not so much about feeling "sad" all the time, though like any other humanoid being (besies game show hosts, naturally) i go through periods of sadness, and i also go through periods of happiness. To me it's more about feeling isolated from other people, about forcing smiles more than i should, and about...well, as Ernest Hemingway said, "Even in the middle of a crowd, i was always alone."
So with that having been said...here are some songs i enjoy listening to when i'm really down. They don't make me feel better necessarily...which could be why i listen to them when i'm so down.
Oh, and there's other words and phrases hidden in the cover art? Can you find them all? If you do, you'll get...well, absolutely nothing to be honest.
Intended format: 60 minute tape (the time limit here should be raised to 90 minutes, for srs)
Side a: 29.13
Side b: 29.57

The sample, which comes from Single White Female, works as such a brilliant introduction to this tape. " I don't wanna try to be loved anymore. I don't wanna be scared anymore. Or to kill anymore...I don't wanna kill anymore. I don't wanna be alone anymore. I don't wanna be anything, anymore...I don't need a reason to kill myself. I need a reason not to. There isn't one." Track Description:
This record is amazing...if you haven't heard it, you need to buy or download it. Almost definitely the album of 2006 for me. And here are the lyrics tio this song, because they're awesome: stephen: whats the password? whats the password? error; invalid; system failure. when i get my hands on them.. oh just you wait and you'll see... "give me one reason to trust you" she said, and i replied "i can not for i have none" and she cried. "then give me your trust so that mine can return" she said, and i replied "i can not for i have none" and i would have cried, but my eyes has dried. "then share with me a starving need to hold on" she said, and i replied "i can not for i have none" "what then? where do we place ourselves?" "on the funeral pyre to burn." and burn. lindsay: Reinventing moonlight for model lace. Hands touch faces and lips whisper simple phrases. So faithful, so sincere. Across the room stands a kind man who doesn't know my name, the kind man doesn't know my face. I wasn't plugged in today and I couldn't help thinking that/ that meant something very profound. (lol at this actually being the eighth song of this tape, though it's not the eighth song of the album) SHOW LESS

Track Description:
This actually isn't my favorite Joy Division song, but it's close and i feel like it just fits the idea here so fucking well..or maybe it doesn't? One of the things i like so much about Ian Curtis' lyrics are that they're so open to interpetation. It could be about a relationship between two people gradually growing colder, or maybe a political song, the "freezing over" of the world as man cares less and less for his brethen. But i think it just seems so well to refelct feelings of depression, apathy, being in a place where it's always cold. SHOW LESS
