description:
This mix was really fucking hard, mostly because I didn't just want to do a "best of" tape. I figured that if absolutely everything pertaining to art, music, and literature had been destroyed, then it would be my job, as the sole provider of all human cultural achievement before the year 2007, to teach the future about as many of these achievements as possible. Knowing that, I tried to include many genres, as well as cover a large time period. So think of this as a very rudimentary "history" of music in the past century or so.

Length: 00:05:30

Track Description:
We'll start the mix with the oldest song on here. Written in the 1880's, the fourth movement of Mahler's 2nd Symphony is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. It includes voice, strings, woodwinds and brass, so it's also a good "introduction" to what classical music is all about to people of the future.

I can't forget about jazz in this mix, but I had a hell of a time deciding which track to use. I ended up going with this just because of its awesome, and I don't think there's any sax on the mix at all.

Track Description:
Anyone who's ever met me knows that the D-Plan are my favorite band, so obviously I wouldn't want to deprive the future of their awesomeness. It's a great sad, lonely song, so people people of the future will be able to at least hear about real emotions - I assume everyone will be so doped up on soma that they won't feel anything. This song will help.

Nice variety. And if one needs a Beatles song, there's nothing better than a George Harrison song. WHich is what I should have included on mine. But I thought "Hello, Goodbye" was funny for some reason.
