description:
The only time I found I could ever be truly alone in my house was late at night when my family was in bed. It was at those times where I figured out some of the best dance routines that mankind will probably ever know...and i did it all in my kitchen.
This mix is a compilation of my favourite dancing songs- songs that my kitchen and I know all too well.

Track 2 from The Soft Parade
Length: 00:03:12 Year: 1969 |
|
Track Description:
This is the opener for the mix because when I dance, it's such a good warm up. Nothing in the world makes me feel like dancing like the sweet, sweet build up of an organ solo. SHOW LESS

2 | Dance Hall Crashers : Nothing Left To Say |
This song is great because by the time you've warmed up with The Doors, you're ready for something to use all [...]

Track 9 from Purr
Length: 00:03:02 Year: 1999 |
|
Track Description:
This song is great because by the time you've warmed up with The Doors, you're ready for something to use all your fresh energy on. I like to bust out some some tea towels for this number and swing them around to this song for added effect. SHOW LESS

Track 9 from Revolver
Length: 00:02:01 Year: 1966 |

Track Description:
And Your Bird Can Sing follows because it, like many Beatles songs, has a really steady beat to it- BUT it also has that sweet, sweet guitar interlude that is just perfect for sliding accross your linoleum floor. SHOW LESS

4 | 69 Boyz : Tootsee Roll |

Track 12 from 199 Quad
Length: 00:04:16 Year: 1994 |
|
Track Description:
Okay, so I guess this is one of the tackiest songs ever. It's the song that some jerk requests to every DJ and everyone with taste hears and is disgusted...until they sart to feel the dance within them. It's uncontrollable. SHOW LESS

Track 2 from The Ultimate Collection
Length: 00:02:58 Year: 1996 |
|
Track Description:
ABC follows Tootsee Roll for a specific reason, and that reason is to purge you of the creepiness you will feel inside you after that track. It's meant to replace whatever the hell was going on in the previous song with simple things like reading, writing and 'rithmatic. But that only works if you think of MJ as his adorable young self, singing about things he should be, as opposed to using childhood intrests as a clever ploy. SHOW LESS

Track 14 from ABBA Gold
Length: 00:04:53 Year: 1992 |
|
Track Description:
Now, at about half way through the dance of the kitchen we come to ABBA. So far most of the music has been considerably bouncy. Now however, with the power of ABBA, that will all change- it will become a dance of the hips. Your disco finger might get a workout in this number, however it's perfect because you're at the peak of kitchen dancing. SHOW LESS

Track 2 from Under The Western Freeway
Length: 00:03:20 Year: 1997 |
|
Track Description:
I've never really understood why Grandaddy is branded so upbeat. To me, this song has the same sort of tone as one of those very few strangely attractive math pro types. Like you don't really expect it to be kind of casual and attractive but then it is...that's why this is here. Because there's a nerdy sort of sexiness about it. Now imagine that dance. SHOW LESS

Track 11 from Pray For Mojo
Length: 00:03:11 Year: 1999 |
|
Track Description:
Mustard Plug was very fairweather for my listening. However, I could dance to Yesterday till my fridge defrosts. And I hope that won't be for a long time because I need food to live. This song is preparing for the cool down of the kitchen dance, that's why it's a bit more active. SHOW LESS

This track basically signals the beginning of the end. It's kind of swanky but slow enough to bring you down from the high of frolicing around. I guess the kitchen isn't just a place for preparing food anymore- it's a place to prepare you for being awesome. SHOW LESS
