A long time ago I used to live in a little one-church "town" called Big Springs, California. If you've never heard of it you're like most people. It's near Weed, and if you don't know where that is... Google it.
Anyway, when I was a little kid my parents still had a working record player, my dad was working for himself in the drywall business and we were poor but we were making it. My mom was writing, and everyone was happy. At New Year's some of their friends and my aunt and uncle would come over and they'd play old records and drink rum and coke and set off bottle rockets into the sky. I was too young to appreciate their music then. A lot of stuff has happened since then. Now, as a teenager, I'm not turned on by what my generation has come up with so I turn to the sounds that so moved my parents back when rock'n'roll wasn't synonymous with American Idol.
The first half is music that I got from my mom and the second half is stuff from my dad.
